NBA India – Arrival to India
The NBA came to India for the very first time, and we lit the Gateway of India to mark its arrival in Mumbai. Across the 28th and 29th of September 2019, one of the country’s most iconic monuments was transformed into a monumental canvas of light, welcoming the league and its visiting teams to India.
Creative Factory was honoured to conceptualise and produce the projection mapping content that brought this moment to life. The experience was designed as a symbolic bridge between global sport and one of India’s most recognisable cultural landmarks, turning the arrival of the NBA into a visual celebration seen across the Mumbai skyline.
Using the façade of the Gateway of India as a storytelling surface, the content was crafted to reflect movement, energy, and the spirit of the game, creating a dynamic visual language that introduced the two visiting teams in a way that felt both celebratory and cinematic. Light became the medium through which sport, culture, and place converged.
From creative direction and content design to technical planning and on-ground execution, every element was carefully engineered to respect the monument while maximising its visual impact. The result was a seamless projection experience that turned a historic landmark into a living tribute to the global arrival of the NBA in India.
