Al Salwa Palace – The seat of the First Saudi State, retold in light.
On the 29th of March, projection mapping drew together the past, present, and future of Diriyah across the facade of the iconic Salwa Palace. Standing at the entrance to At-Turaif, it was once among the most important landmarks in all of Central Arabia, a reflection of the power and majesty of that era.
Creative Factory approached the experience with a single guiding intent: to let history speak through light, without overwhelming the authenticity of the place itself. The challenge was to transform one of the most significant heritage sites in the region into a living canvas, while preserving its architectural dignity and emotional weight.
Through carefully designed projection mapping, the façade of Salwa Palace was reimagined as a narrative surface where time itself became the storyteller. Visual sequences unfolded across the structure to reflect the evolution of Diriyah—from its origins as the seat of the First Saudi State, to its cultural and historical legacy, and its present-day renaissance as a global heritage destination.
Every frame of content was crafted to align with the architectural rhythm of the palace, ensuring that light enhanced rather than disrupted the structure. The result was a seamless dialogue between technology and heritage, where stone, shadow, and projection merged into a single cohesive experience.
Set at the entrance to At-Turaif, the activation transformed the site into a moment of reflection and discovery, allowing audiences to experience history not as a static memory, but as something alive, evolving, and deeply connected to the present.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all partners and collaborators who contributed to bringing this vision to life. Projects like these reaffirm our belief at Creative Factory—that when technology is used with restraint and purpose, it has the power to honour history and elevate it into something profoundly experiential.
