Luquluqu – A Global Virtual Stage for UNHCR

Four countries. One shared stage. One purpose—to support displaced families across Africa.

Luquluqu, a stand-up comedy special created for UNHCR, brought together a remarkable cast of hosts, comedians, and interviewers from different parts of the world to raise awareness and inspire action through the universal language of humour. Despite the distances between performers, the audience experienced a single, seamless production.

Creative Factory was entrusted with the challenge of turning a globally distributed programme into one unified virtual event. Performances were filmed on green screen across South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and the United Kingdom, with each participant contributing from their own location.

Our creative and technical approach centred on the idea of a shared stage. Rather than presenting a series of isolated remote feeds, we designed and composited a bespoke virtual environment that brought all the presenters, comedians, and interviewer together into one cohesive setting. The result was a production where geography disappeared, allowing the conversations and performances to flow naturally across continents.

From virtual set design and creative visualisation to green screen integration, compositing, and post-production, every element was carefully orchestrated to ensure consistency in look, scale, and atmosphere across the entire programme. The technical complexity of combining talent from multiple countries into a single believable environment required meticulous planning and precise execution.

The final production demonstrated the power of virtual storytelling to connect people across borders, using technology to create a shared experience in support of an important humanitarian cause. By blending entertainment with purpose, Luquluqu delivered a message of hope, resilience, and solidarity to audiences around the world.

We are proud to have contributed to this meaningful global initiative and extend our sincere thanks to UNHCR and all our partners and collaborators for their trust and support in bringing this unique virtual production to life.
